Ben and Alfie in

The Curse of Thadeus Drake

One project that is very close to my heart at the moment – and is still in development – is a children’s adventure novel, Ben & Alfie in The Curse of Thadeus Drake. This started life many years ago and has undergone various re-writes as feedback has come in from beta-readers and editors and anyone else whose arm I can gently twist to read it! *

A tale of pirates and modern-day treasure hunters.

I’ve even now finished the first draft of the sequel, Ben & Alfie in The Secret Diary of Thadeus Drake, which goes some way to showing how immersed I have become in Ben and Alfie’s dare-devil adventures.

Here’s a sneak peek of what you can expect:

In 1813, the adventurous Captain Drake returns from sea with a horde of stolen gold. 200 years later, a young boy is paralysed during a robbery at his father’s antiques shop. Now, four years on, wheelchair-bound Ben and twelve year old Alfie – a blind boy with a 6th sense for mystery – are about to uncover the truth behind Drake’s long-lost legacy, bringing the past crashing into the present. Up against ancient curses and menacing robbers who will stop at nothing to get what they want, Ben and Alfie are in grave danger as they race against time in their search for buried treasure.

Of course what has happened to Ben during the robbery at his father’s shop turns out to be linked to the treasure brought back by the enigmatic Captain Thadeus Drake and, if they can discover the truth behind the legend, the lives of both Ben and Alfie will be changed forever.
